Every day, tonnes of fruit waste, including pineapple cores, mango skins, and banana peels, are discarded into landfills, accelerating organic decomposition and greenhouse gas emissions. Meanwhile, households continue purchasing synthetic cleaning products loaded with harsh chemicals. FruitPure was developed to solve both problems at once. FruitPure is a bio-based household cleaning solution that upcycles agricultural by-products into effective, non-toxic cleaning agents. Using a saponification process applied to used cooking oil alongside fruit-derived biochemical extracts, the project produces a dual-product line consisting of a liquid cleaner and a solid soap block. This circular economy approach ensures that waste from one industry directly fuels a consumer-ready product in another. Empirical testing on heavily stained fabrics confirmed the formulation's cleaning efficiency, successfully emulsifying and lifting stubborn grease and dirt. Chemical analysis further validated its safety profile, as the liquid cleaner stabilises at pH 8 and the solid soap at pH 9, which are both within mild alkaline ranges that are gentle on skin and free of synthetic additives. At a manufacturing cost of RM10.50 per dual-pack, FruitPure is intentionally retailed at RM5.00, which is a subsidised pricing strategy designed to accelerate market adoption among lower-income households and disrupt the dominance of synthetic cleaning brands retailing at up to RM78.50 per kilogram. This social enterprise model prioritises accessibility and environmental impact over immediate profit, reflecting a commitment to making sustainable living genuinely attainable for all consumers.
