Managing daily medication intake alongside proper hydration is a growing challenge, especially for individuals with active lifestyles, complex health conditions, or demanding schedules. Missed doses due to forgetfulness or disorganization are increasingly common, leading to compromised treatment outcomes, health deterioration, and increased medical expenses. A study by Lyidia Masika et al. (2024) reported that 22.3% of participants missed their medications, with 17.9% attributing it to forgetfulness. These challenges are especially prevalent among seniors, chronic illness patients, frequent travelers, and busy students or working adults who often carry separate pill organizers and water bottles, adding to the inconvenience and increasing the likelihood of missed doses.
In order to gain deeper insight into the issue, we conducted interviews with three individuals aged 18 to 19—our target group of young adults and students. Insights gained from these interviews, supported by secondary research, confirmed that storage limitations, travel complications, and a lack of integrated solutions are key contributors to medication non-adherence.
Using the design software Shapr3D, we developed a prototype over a 7-day period to address these concerns. The result is MizuCare—a compact, all-in-one solution that combines a water bottle with built-in pill storage. MizuCare is designed for portability, ease of use, and integration into daily routines, helping users stay consistent with both medication and hydration.
Our group hopes that MizuCare will enhance personal health management by offering a more convenient and reliable way to maintain wellness on the go. We aim to empower users to take control of their health with confidence, comfort, and consistency.
