Food waste and plastic usage are increasing environmental issues, especially in boarding schools where large amounts of food waste are produced daily. Leftover food and discarded paper trays often create unpleasant odours and contribute to waste accumulation, while plastic seedling containers and polybags increase environmental pollution. To address these problems, Eco-Linut Potiliser (ELP) was developed as a biodegradable fertiliser pot made from food waste, recycled paper egg trays, and linut flour as a natural binder. ELP functions as a planting medium for seedlings while reducing waste, minimising plastic usage as well as synthetic fertilisers. The pot can be planted directly into soil, where it naturally decomposes and enriched the soil. Overall, ELP promotes sustainable waste management and environmental awareness through eco-friendly innovation.
