This study investigates the relationship between water pressure and water distribution systems in buildings based on the principles of Physics. The research focuses on the effect of hydrostatic pressure generated by water stored in elevated tanks and its influence on the flow of tap water to lower floors of a building. The concept of pressure in fluids is analysed by examining how gravitational force and the height of the water column contribute to water movement through pipes. A higher water level produces greater pressure, resulting in a stronger water supply to taps located below the storage tank. Conversely, insufficient height may reduce water pressure and affect water flow efficiency. The study applies fundamental fluid mechanics concepts to explain common daily-life situations related to domestic water supply systems. The findings demonstrate that pressure differences caused by elevation are essential in ensuring continuous and effective water distribution in residential and commercial buildings. This research highlights the practical application of Physics in modern infrastructure and water management systems.
