CRA-VE is a sustainable, bio-degradable and cost-effective crayon made from carnauba wax and the pigment are plant based. It is design to replace the toxic and non-biodegradable traditional crayon that are made from paraffin wax which derived from petroleum which take decades to decompose. The product was created by using carnauba wax, a natural, food grade wax derived from the leaves of the carnauba palm tree and the color pigment are plant-based which are safe to human. To make the wax blend together with the pigment, an oil is added and we used filtered used cooking oil.
The collection contains a box of 5 shades which are purple (yam), green (screw pine), red (beetroot), yellow (turmeric) and blue (butterfly pea flower). The color is created in the lab that include the process of drying, blend and sieving to get a fine texture powder before adding to the melted carnauba wax. The wax then melted together with cooking oil before added the colour pigment and shape in the silicon mould.
Each stick mass 6.35-6.52g, cylinder shape and suitable for children aged 3-7 years old. The melting point of each stick is around 66-72 degree celcius. Each stick undergo strength test to make sure it meets the benchmark for crayon strength. The minimum weight it can hold is 350g and maximum 1005g witch is quite strong and suitable for children to grip. It aims for the consumer to switch to naturally made crayons and save to the planet.
