SignVoice Vision is a wearable system that helps deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals communicate more easily with other people. The project uses a Raspberry Pi Camera mounted on the user’s head to capture hand gestures in real time. Unlike traditional smart gloves, this system does not require users to wear sensors on their hands, making it more comfortable and practical for daily use.
The camera captures sign language gestures and sends the data to a Raspberry Pi 5 for processing. Using AI and computer vision technology, the system recognizes the hand signs and converts them into text and speech output through a speaker. This allows people around the user to understand the message instantly.
The goal of SignVoice Vision is to reduce communication barriers in places such as schools, hospitals, and public areas. The system is portable, affordable, and easy to use, making it a helpful assistive technology for the deaf community. In the future, the project can be improved to recognize more sign language gestures and provide faster and more accurate translations.
