VanillaBoost Potting Mix is an innovative soil amendment developed for the cultivation of Vanilla planifolia, one of the world’s most valuable spice crops, renowned for its aromatic beans used in food, beverages, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, created by blending frass produced from Black Soldier Fly larvae  (Hermetia illucens) reared in soil with food scraps and leftover organic waste. The cultivation of Vanilla planifolia is expanding widely and is expected to contribute towards achieving the country’s Self-Sufficiency Ratio (SSR). A controlled experiment was conducted using four treatment ratios of frass to topsoil: 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, and 25:75, arranged in a completely randomized design with three replicates per treatment. Over 12 weeks, soil properties and growth of Vanilla planifolia stem cuttings were monitored. The 50:50 frass-to-topsoil mixture showed the significant improvement in soil nutrients and plant growth, demonstrating a synergistic effect between frass and topsoil. VanillaBoost Potting Mix transforms organic waste into a high-value biofertilizer through a circular bioeconomy approach, addressing both waste management challenges and declining soil health.  This innovation exemplifies how biological resources can be harnessed to create impactful, nature-based solutions for modern agriculture.
