Abstract (English)

Multiplication of more than two digits can be confusing, especially for those who are not proficient in traditional multiplication methods. Students sometimes forget that the digit (tens) placed above the multiplier is the result of multiplication with the previous digit. Napier rods or Napier’s Bones have long been known as tools to facilitate multiplication of more than two digits and to solve a large number division. Multiplication tools have been created from rods, wood, and elephant tusks. Therefore, the aim of our innovation is to create an alternative counting aid that is creative and fun. It is made from Minecraft blocks and inspired by the old mathematics of Napier’s Bones. The concept of this innovative idea is the creation of a set of magnet blocks arranged side by side according to a multiplication table. The counting medium or calculator is created from the blocks themselves, using the Lattice method. This innovation is called the Napier’s Magnetic Block Calculator. Our hope is that this innovation can make complex calculations faster, more usual, accurate and exciting. aligns with the goals of STEM, which need to be applied in every aspect of life.

Pendaraban lebih dua angka boleh mengelirukan terutamanya bagi yang tidak mahir mendarab dalam bentuk lazim. Pelajar kadang-kala terlupa bahawa angka (puluh) yang diletakkan di atas angka pendarab adalah hasil pendaraban dengan angka sebelumnya. Tetulang Napier atau Napier’s Bones ini sudah lama dikenali sebagai alat untuk memudahkan pendaraban lebih dua angka dan menyelesaikan pembahagian nombor besar. Alat pendaraban telah dicipta dari rod, kayu dan gading gajah. Justeru matlamat inovasi kami ialah mencipta alternatif alat bantuan mengira yang kreatif dan menyeronokkan. Ia dihasilkan dari permainan blok Minecraft dan diinspirasi dari  matematik lama Napier’s Bones. Konsep idea inovasi ini ialah penghasilan satu set blok magnet yang disusun mengikut jadual pendaraban. Medium pengiraan atau kalkulator dilahirkan dari permainan blok itu sendiri, melalui kaedah Lattice. Inovasi ini dinamakan Napier’s Magnetic Block Calculator. Harapan kami, inovasi ini dapat menjadikan pengiraan yang kompleks lebih cepat, lebih visual, tepat dan menyeronokkan. Ini selaras dengan tujuan STEM yang perlu diaplikasikan dalam setiap aspek kehidupan.
