This science project investigates rainwater harvesting as an innovative response to the increasing challenge of water scarcity. With unpredictable rainfall patterns and declining groundwater levels, traditional water sources are becoming unreliable. The project proposes a rooftop rainwater harvesting system tailored for household use, emphasizing affordability and ease of implementation. A scaled model demonstrates key components such as catchment surfaces, filtration mechanisms, and storage solutions. The study explores the system’s potential to reduce dependence on municipal water, lower water bills, and promote sustainable water management. Beyond its technical design, the project highlights the broader environmental, social, and economic impacts of rainwater harvesting, and its role in building resilient communities. By embracing this age-old technique with modern adaptations, we can create a more water-secure future.
