This project investigates the development of a biodegradable super absorbent polymer (bio-SAP) using orange and avocado fruit peels as sustainable raw materials. The study aims to reduce food waste while producing an eco-friendly alternative to synthetic SAP. The bio-SAP was prepared through drying, blending, and chemical treatment processes before testing its water absorption and moisture retention abilities. Different formulations were compared to evaluate their effectiveness in supporting plant growth and soil moisture conservation. Results showed that the bio-SAP successfully absorbed and retained water, although its performance was lower than commercial synthetic SAP. Overall, the project highlights the potential of fruit peel waste in sustainable agricultural applications.
