Water scarcity and low environmental awareness are becoming bigger issues in Malaysia and around the world. A lot of water is wasted because of inefficient irrigation systems, while environmental education in schools is often too theoretical and less engaging for students. To solve these problems, this paper introduces Flux, a web-based platform that combines smart irrigation technology with interactive environmental learning.

Flux consists of four main modules. First, the Smart Irrigation Dashboard monitors real-time sensor data such as soil moisture, temperature, humidity, and light intensity to automate watering and reduce water wastage. Second, the Education Hub provides fun and interactive learning through quizzes, gamified lessons, badges, and a community leaderboard to encourage student participation. Third, Dewey, a bilingual AI assistant gives personalised responses in both English and Bahasa Melayu based on live sensor data. Lastly, the Settings Module allows users to customise the platform according to their preferences.

Since Flux is fully web-based, it can be accessed easily on any device without installation. Overall, Flux has strong potential to be implemented in Malaysian secondary schools, community farming projects, and water sustainability campaigns. The platform also supports Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) as well as Malaysia’s sustainability goals under the 12th Malaysia Plan.
