Abstract:
Plastic pollution is a growing environmental concern, creating a need to find more biodegradable alternatives. This project explores the use of beetroot in the production of bioplastic.
Beetroot extract was mixed with starch, vinegar, and glycerol to form a bioplastic film. Thebioplastic was then tested for its strength, flexibility, and decomposition rate.
The results showed that the beetroot-based bioplastic is flexible, biodegradable, and contains natural pigments from beetroot, reducing the need for artificial dyes. However, it is sensitive to moisture, which may limit its durability.
Overall, beetroot-based bioplastic shows strong potential as an eco-friendly substitute for conventional plastic.
