TARANITHA SURIYA A/P TAMILARUSU MRSM Alor Gajah
The Crack2Chalk project is an innovation aimed at recycling broken or unused chalk into a new, functional, and sustainable product. The issue of chalk wastage is common in schools, where broken pieces are often discarded despite still being usable. Therefore, this project focuses on collecting, processing, and reforming chalk waste into stronger and more user-friendly chalk.
The method involves grinding the chalk waste into a fine powder, followed by mixing it with a suitable binding agent before molding and drying it into new chalk sticks. The results show that the recycled chalk produced has comparable strength and writing quality to commercial chalk. In addition, this project contributes to reducing solid waste while promoting environmental awareness among students regarding the importance of recycling practices.
Overall, Crack2Chalk provides a practical solution to material wastage in schools and has the potential to be further developed as a cost-effective and eco-friendly educational innovation.
