Dec'oranges is a product that helps to minimize landfill waste and greenhouse gas emissions, specifically from oranges, by turning it into a paper product for multiple use. In line with SDG 12; responsible consumption and production, SDG 13; climate action and SDG15; life on land, our team of 3 with the help of our advisor has brainstormed ideas to create our product to life. After multiple lab trials, we have successfully combined the availability of orange peels around us and strength of fibre contained in them into one product. And through these test, we have also manage to create a paper based product that is also durable, compared to similar ones out in the market. Our goal is to not only provide a more eco-friendly and affordable alternative towards paper, but also eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from oranges.Our problem statement stems from the fact that paper production not only leads to deforestation, but also uses high amounts of water during production, contributing to environmental degradation. Students on the other hand, use a lot of paper and paper based products for their studies. By developing Dec'orange, we help not only to cut down the amount of trees logged each year, but also students, our target consumers, wont have to feel burdened to buy electronic devices all in order to support our planet.
