Coffee waste is generated in large amounts worldwide and is often discarded, contributing to environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. This project aims to convert spent coffee grounds into carbon aerogel-coated tissue and reusable wipes for sustainable applications. The coffee waste is first dried and carbonized to produce porous carbon. The carbon is then mixed with a liquid binder to form a slurry and coated onto tissue or sponge materials, followed by vacuum drying to preserve its porous structure. The final product shows high oil absorption capacity, good filtration ability, and improved durability compared to normal tissue. This innovation provides an eco-friendly solution for reducing oil content in food and offers reusable cleaning options. By transforming waste into a value-added material, this project supports sustainability, reduces environmental impact, and promotes a circular economy.
