i-KHATAM TRACKER 2.0: From Aayah to Achievement — Building a Qur’an-Literate Generation

In contemporary Qur’anic education, the central challenge is no longer access to the Qur’an, but the ability to sustain consistency and achieve completion. While most learners begin their Qur’anic reading journey at an early age, a significant number do not successfully complete all thirty Juz’, resulting in a gap between participation and achievement. This challenge stems not from lack of exposure, but from the absence of structured monitoring systems, progress visibility, and sustained motivational support. To address this issue, i-Khatam Tracker 2.0 was developed as an intelligent Digital Qur’an Progress Intelligence System that transforms recitation into a structured, measurable, and goal-oriented learning experience. The system integrates real-time tracking based on Surah, Ayah, and Juz’, multi-cycle Khatam monitoring, audio-based Tasmiek submission, teacher verification, achievement milestones, automated progress analytics, and centralized dashboards that enable continuous monitoring and personalised intervention. Grounded in behavioural learning theory and self-regulated learning principles, the platform enhances intrinsic motivation by allowing learners to visualise progress, set goals, and receive continuous feedback, thereby strengthening engagement, accountability, and completion behaviour. Unlike conventional Qur’an applications that focus primarily on access and passive reading, i-Khatam Tracker 2.0 emphasises completion, consistency, and long-term spiritual development. Successfully implemented at Sekolah Arab Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (SASHHB), Brunei Darussalam, and currently entering its second consecutive year of deployment, the system has demonstrated measurable educational impact through improved monitoring efficiency, increased student participation, enhanced teacher oversight, and stronger motivation towards completing the Qur’an. The innovation has received extensive national and international recognition, including the Merit Award at the Brunei ICT Awards (BICTA) 2025 organised by the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AITI), Champion of BIGSTART 2025 organised by Darussalam Enterprise (DARE), Gold Award at the International Invention & Innovative Competition (InIIC) 2025 organised by MNNF Network Malaysia, Silver Medal at The 6th Sustainability Award 2025 organised by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Champion of the National Essay Writing Competition organised by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) through a research-based essay on i-Khatam Tracker, and Gold Medal at the International Invention, Innovation and Design Competition (i3DC) 2026 organised by Kolej Vokasional Tanah Merah, Digit360 and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Kelantan, Malaysia. These achievements validate the innovation’s educational impact, technological excellence, and scalability. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), Sustainable Development Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and the aspirations of Wawasan Brunei 2035, i-Khatam Tracker 2.0 represents a transformative model for nurturing a disciplined, motivated, and Qur’an-literate generation while advancing the digital transformation of Islamic education in the 21st century.
