ST1056: Engineeing Inventory System Management

Nur Alya Nabilah Binti Norhafizal Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM)

The management of engineering tools and spare parts within a departmental workshop often faces challenges such as data inaccuracy, loss of physical records, and inefficient tracking of stock movements. Currently, the department relies on manual logbooks to record inventory transactions, which is time-consuming and prone to human error. To address these issues, the Engineering Department Inventory System was developed as a centralized web-based solution. The system is designed to digitize the inventory workflow, allowing staff to submit stock requests with photo evidence and providing managers with real-time oversight for approvals and automated report generation. The development of this system follows the Agile methodology, utilizing an iterative process that incorporates continuous user feedback to ensure the final product meets the practical needs of the engineering staff. Key features include role-based authentication, a comprehensive stock database, and a transaction tracking module that maintains data integrity through a structured relational database. The implementation of this system is expected to significantly improve operational efficiency by reducing search times and providing accurate, real-time inventory data for departmental auditing. Ultimately, this project demonstrates how digital transformation can streamline administrative processes and enhance resource management within a technical workshop environment.
