As education progresses into the digital era, the integration of technology brings both opportunities and challenges. A common challenge in schools is managing student laptops effectively. While laptops support learning, many institutions struggle with oversight, leading to misuse, poor accountability, and storage issues.

To address this, we developed LapTrack, an innovative laptop management system that combines a mobile application with secure, sensor-equipped parcel lockers. Each student’s laptop is embedded with RFID tags, enabling real-time tracking within the lockers. To retrieve a device, students must submit a request through the application, providing a valid reason. The request is then reviewed by the teacher, who can approve or deny it via mobile device. Upon approval, the designated locker automatically unlocks for retrieval.

This system promotes security, encourages responsible usage, and minimizes the need for constant teacher supervision. Each student is assigned a personal locker, ensuring organized and secure storage. The application logs all activities, giving educators insights into device usage and supporting policy enforcement.

By integrating physical storage with digital monitoring, LapTrack offers a modern and efficient solution to traditional laptop management. Its unique blend of RFID technology and education-focused design makes it highly adaptable for secondary schools, colleges, and tuition centers. It can be offered as a subscription service or a hardware-software bundle.

LapTrack also supports sustainability by reducing paper use and minimizing human error through automation. The system improves energy efficiency and simplifies access to laptops, enhancing students’ digital learning experience. With real-time monitoring, educators can better manage usage, reduce misuse, and foster responsible digital behavior in schools.
