Objective:
To improve walking safety by developing smart footwear that provides illumination and obstacle detection for users, especially the elderly.
Methods:
A sandal prototype was developed using two LED lights, a pressure switch, an ultrasonic sensor, a buzzer, and an Arduino microcontroller. The system activates automatically when the sandal is worn.
Results:
A functional prototype was successfully created. The LED lights illuminate the path, while the ultrasonic sensor detects obstacles and triggers a buzzer alert.
Conclusion:
Illuminated Footwear enhances user safety, confidence, and independence by combining automatic lighting and obstacle detection in a practical and affordable wearable device.
