ABSTRACT

Internship preparation has become an increasingly important issue among university students, particularly among Gen Z learners who often face challenges related to self-confidence, professional communication, and interview readiness. Many students lack exposure to real-world workplace expectations, resulting in anxiety and uncertainty during internship application and interview processes. Traditional preparation methods are often passive and less engaging, making it difficult for students to develop practical communication and professional skills effectively. Therefore, this project proposes the development of InternPrep AI, a web-based internship preparation platform designed to support students through interactive and self-paced learning experiences.

The platform is developed using Google Sites and integrates AI-generated interview simulation videos to provide realistic internship interview practice. The interview simulations are organised into multiple phases, ranging from basic introductory questions to more advanced situational and professional communication questions. In addition, the platform provides practical guidance on professional email writing, resume preparation, communication skills, and workplace etiquette. The project aims to improve students’ confidence, increase awareness of professional expectations, and enhance internship readiness among university students.

A quantitative survey will be conducted to identify students’ challenges, confidence levels, and acceptance toward AI-based learning approaches. The findings are expected to demonstrate that students prefer interactive and technology-supported learning methods for career preparation. This innovation aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by promoting accessible career readiness education for future graduates.
