This project presents the development of a portable mini vacuum cleaner created from recycled plastic materials to promote environmental sustainability and practical innovation among students. The invention was designed to demonstrate how simple household waste, such as plastic bottles and small electronic components, can be transformed into a functional cleaning device for daily use. The project also aimed to encourage creativity, engineering skills, and environmental awareness through hands-on innovation.
One major problem identified in daily environments, particularly in schools and study areas, is the accumulation of dust, paper scraps, and small debris on desks and workspaces. Conventional vacuum cleaners are often expensive, bulky, and inconvenient for quick cleaning tasks. In addition, increasing plastic waste contributes significantly to environmental pollution, while many recyclable materials remain underutilized.
To address these issues, the proposed solution was the design and fabrication of a compact mini vacuum cleaner using recycled plastic bottles combined with a small motor-powered suction system. The device was lightweight, portable, easy to assemble, and capable of collecting small particles effectively. The system demonstrated how low-cost materials could be integrated into a practical engineering application while reducing environmental waste. The project emphasized simplicity, accessibility, and sustainability, making it suitable for educational and household applications.
The impacts of this innovation include promoting environmental consciousness through recycling practices, reducing plastic waste, and encouraging students to apply STEM knowledge in real-world problem solving. The invention also supports the development of creativity, teamwork, and engineering design skills. Furthermore, the project can inspire young innovators to create sustainable technologies from readily available materials and increase awareness of eco-friendly product development.
From a commercialization perspective, the mini vacuum cleaner has strong potential as an affordable eco-friendly product for students, households, and educational institutions. The low production cost and simple manufacturing process make it feasible for small-scale production and community-based enterprises. With further refinement in design, durability, and battery efficiency, the product could be expanded into the educational toy market, environmentally friendly consumer products, and STEM learning kits for schools and innovation programs.
