Problem statement:
Chemical fertilizers can lead to various issues, including air and water pollution, soil acidification, nutrient imbalance, damage to soil structure, harm to plants, greenhouse gas emissions, and eutrophication.
Innovation Details:
To contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollution, we have developed an innovative approach to recycle a few of the kitchen scraps, including banana, onion, and potato peels, into an organic plant booster.
Objective
The objectives of the Organic Plant Booster are various.
To help to convert kitchen waste into a valuable resource, reducing waste.
Being free from chemicals, it is environmentally friendly and supports a sustainable ecosystem.
To help enrich the soil with essential nutrients, promoting healthier plant growth which eliminates the need for harsh chemicals, encouraging healthier soil and more robust plant growth.
Why can’t we place the peels directly into the plants?
Placing the peels directly into the soil can slow down the decomposition process, delaying nutrient availability for plants.
To overcome this, it’s recommended to extract nutrients from the peels and transform them into a water-based booster.
By soaking the peels for 3-4 days, nutrients leach into the water, creating a nutrient-rich solution. This solution can be sprayed onto plants, speeding up decomposition and providing nutrients to the soil more effectively.
Benefits of organic plant booster.
Does not contain chemicals
Can be prepared at home using banana, onion, and potato peels
Cost saving
By not discarding the peels as kitchen waste, we help reduce global warming.
More quantity when doing at home.
Ingredients of Organic Plants Booster
Potato Peels
Potato peels are rich in nutrients such as potassium and magnesium, which significantly enhance plant growth. Phosphorus, found in potato peels, is crucial for energy transfer within plants, root development, and the formation of flowers and seeds.
Onion Peels
Onion peels are rich in vital nutrients such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, and copper, all of which are essential for plant growth. They aid in root development, boost stem growth, and enhance overall productivity. Additionally, they increase the plants’ resistance to diseases.
Banana peels
Banana peels are an excellent source of potassium and calcium, both of which are highly beneficial for plants. They help in enhancing plant immunity against aphids and contribute to root development. Furthermore, banana peels promote increased stem growth, result in greener leaves, and boost overall productivity.
Methods of booster preparation:
Cut the banana peels into small pieces to facilitate the release of nutrients into the water, then soak them for 3 to 5 days. Similarly, soak potato peels in water for 3 days, and do the same with onion peels. After 3 days, the water will be nutrient-rich and can be used as a plant booster.
Conclusion:
We strongly encourage using an organic plant booster for your plants, as it is free from chemicals. By choosing organic boosters, we can contribute to a greener world and help protect the planet.
