Dyslexia among secondary school students often remains hidden, as affected students may be misunderstood as lazy, careless, or slow learners. Difficulties in reading, spelling, comprehension, and following instructions can affect students’ confidence and classroom participation if they are not identified early. This study aims to identify dyslexia risk among Malaysian secondary school students using a validated screening tool. A total of 2,410 secondary students participated in the study. Findings showed that 27% of students, or 644 students, were at risk of dyslexia, while 73% were not at risk. This indicates that approximately 1 in 4 students may require further attention and support. The study highlights the importance of early screening in schools to help teachers identify students sooner, provide appropriate support, and promote inclusive learning. Early identification is not about labelling students, but about ensuring that hidden struggles are seen and supported.
