Yao Sie Xui and Lim Xuan En developed the Box-to-Bright System to tackle school energy waste and parcel box pollution. They upcycled discarded boxes into a model classroom powered by a Micro:bit "smart brain". Using light sensors, the system automates lighting: in bright conditions, it plays a melody reminder to switch off lights; in low light, it automatically illuminates the room and displays a cactus icon. By promoting energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions, this practical innovation helps their school community adopt sustainable habits while protecting the environment from light pollution and electronic waste.
