YS324: Coca Telang Enzyme Therapy

Nadhratul Farzana SMJK HUA LIAN

This project aims to develop a natural hand lotion formulation based on coconut milk, papaya extract, and butterfly pea flower extract as an alternative to commercial products containing synthetic chemicals. Coconut milk was selected as a natural moisturizing agent due to its high fatty acid and vitamin E content. Papaya contains the enzyme papain, which functions as a mild exfoliating agent that helps remove dead skin cells and enhance skin brightness. Butterfly pea flower extract was incorporated as a natural colorant rich in anthocyanins, which also act as antioxidants.

The lotion formulation was prepared using a controlled heating method to melt beeswax as a thickening agent before incorporating the natural active ingredients. The resulting product was evaluated in terms of emulsion stability, color changes in response to temperature and pH variations, texture, scent, and skin moisturization level through observation and user feedback questionnaires.

The findings indicate that the formulated lotion demonstrated satisfactory stability over a specific storage period, produced an appealing natural purple color, and improved skin moisture after application. This project highlights the potential of locally sourced natural ingredients as innovative resources in the development of green cosmetic products that are safer, environmentally friendly, and commercially competitive.
