Developing English vocabulary among university students demands instructional strategies that are both engaging and effective in promoting active learning and meaningful comprehension. This study investigates the use of the classic board game Guess Who? as an innovative tool in English language teaching to support vocabulary acquisition among tertiary learners. Conventional vocabulary teaching methods are often limited in interactivity and may not cater to different learning preferences. Therefore, the integration of Guess Who?, an interactive game that encourages deductive thinking and communication, is explored to determine its impact on students’ vocabulary retention and application within higher education settings. A mixed-methods approach was adopted in this study, incorporating quantitative assessments of vocabulary improvement alongside qualitative evaluations of students’ engagement and learning experiences. The study aims to provide educators with practical insights into gamified language learning approaches by demonstrating how board-game-based activities can enhance motivation, stimulate participation, and create an interactive classroom environment that supports vocabulary development among university students.
