Most schools in Malaysia have already adopted fingerprint-based attendance systems, which are better than the traditional way of calling out students' names. However, fingerprint systems can be slow and unhygienic. They also don’t work well during virus outbreaks like COVID-19. Now, vision-based attendance systems are becoming more popular because they are contactless, fast, and can accurately record attendance. This project is about building a Vision-Based Attendance System using Python, a simple and powerful programming language that is great for working with images and videos. The system uses AI (Artificial Intelligence) and a model called YOLOv6, which has been trained to detect and recognize human faces. Once the faces are trained and saved, the system can recognize multiple students at the same time using a webcam and mark their attendance automatically in a excel file. This makes attendance safer and faster for both teachers and students.
