EdgeAcademy is an AI-powered educational platform designed to transform traditional assignment-based learning into a structured skill development and portfolio-building process. In many higher education environments, students often struggle to understand assignment expectations, while lecturers face difficulties providing detailed and timely feedback, especially in large classes. This gap frequently leads to superficial learning outcomes where assignments are completed without clear connections to real-world competencies. EdgeAcademy addresses this challenge by integrating project-based learning, artificial intelligence feedback, and competency tracking within a single digital platform.

The system provides two main interfaces: a Lecturer Dashboard and a Student Dashboard. Through the lecturer interface, instructors can create projects by defining objectives, required skills, deadlines, and evaluation rubrics. These projects are then accessible to students through the student interface, where they can select tasks, manage their progress, and submit their work within a dedicated project workspace. After submission, the platform generates AI-powered feedback aligned with the lecturer’s rubric, offering suggestions, highlighting strengths, and identifying areas for improvement. This allows students to revise and resubmit their work, encouraging continuous learning rather than one-time grading.

A key feature of EdgeAcademy is its integrated AI Mentor, which supports students during the learning process by suggesting relevant analytical frameworks and guiding deeper critical thinking. Additionally, the platform automatically tracks the skills demonstrated in each completed project, creating a dynamic competency profile for every student. Assignments and project outputs are also compiled into a digital portfolio that can be shared with potential employers, helping bridge the gap between academic performance and employability.

The implementation of EdgeAcademy offers several potential impacts. Students benefit from clearer guidance, structured feedback, and visible skill development. Lecturers experience reduced workload through automated feedback assistance and improved monitoring of student progress. Educational institutions gain valuable data insights into student competencies and skill gaps. From a commercialization perspective, EdgeAcademy has strong potential to be developed as a Software-as-a-Service platform for universities seeking to enhance outcome-based education and graduate employability.
