Abstrak:

Inovasi dalam pemanfaatan sumber semula jadi semakin mendapat perhatian, khususnya dalam mengurangkan pembaziran bahan organik. Kajian ini memfokuskan kepada penggunaan bunga Clitoria ternatea (bunga telang) yang tumbuh secara berlebihan di kawasan sekolah untuk menghasilkan produk bernilai tambah seperti teh bunga telang kering dan kordial bunga telang. Proses penghasilan melibatkan pengumpulan bunga segar, pembersihan, pengeringan secara terkawal, serta penyediaan ekstrak kordial menggunakan bunga segar. Bunga telang kaya dengan antioksidan seperti anthosianin yang memberi manfaat kepada kesihatan, termasuk membantu meningkatkan fungsi kognitif dan kesihatan mata.

Inovasi ini bukan sahaja memanfaatkan sumber sedia ada secara optimum, malah memperkenalkan pendekatan mesra alam melalui penghasilan produk semula jadi tanpa bahan kimia tambahan. Produk yang dihasilkan berpotensi untuk dikomersialkan dalam bentuk pembungkusan teh kering dan minuman kordial kerana mempunyai nilai estetika yang unik serta permintaan yang semakin meningkat terhadap produk kesihatan semula jadi. Pendekatan ini diharap dapat memupuk kesedaran dalam kalangan murid tentang kelestarian alam sekitar, keusahawanan, serta inovasi dalam penggunaan sumber tempatan.

 

Abstract:

Innovation in utilizing natural resources within the school environment is gaining increasing attention, particularly in reducing organic waste. This study focuses on the use of Clitoria ternatea (butterfly pea flower), which grows abundantly around the school compound, to develop value-added products such as dried butterfly pea tea and butterfly pea cordial. The production process involves harvesting fresh flowers, cleaning, controlled drying, and preparing cordial extract using freshly picked flowers. Butterfly pea flowers are rich in antioxidants, especially anthocyanins, which offer health benefits including improved cognitive function and eye health.

This innovation not only optimizes the use of available natural resources but also introduces an eco-friendly approach through the production of natural products without added chemicals. The resulting products have strong potential for commercialization in the form of packaged dried tea and concentrated cordial due to their unique visual appeal and the growing demand for natural health-based products. This approach is expected to foster awareness among students on environmental sustainability, entrepreneurship, and innovation in utilizing local resources.
